Ecology: Fundamental Science of the Biosphere
For the first time since 2000, the Annual Conference of the Ecological Society of Australia returns to Victoria. We invite you to attend ESA 2012 to be held at the Sebel Albert Park, Melbourne, from 3-7 December 2012.
The Annual Conference of the Ecological Society of Australia is the pre-eminent conference on ecology in Australia, bringing together ecologists from academic, government and non-government backgrounds. ESA 2012 provides a valuable forum for researcher, land managers and policy makers to share advances in ecology and their implications for understanding our biosphere. We encourage ecologists working in all natural systems - from terrestrial, freshwater and marine - and from the molecular to the ecosystem level, to attend the conference and showcase their science.
At ESA 2012, we will “get back to basics” and focus on the scientific inquiry that underpins our discipline. Ecology is fundamentally important to the conservation and wise management of the Earth’s natural resources. The outcomes of our work matter! It needs to be based on rigorous theory, survey, experimentation and modeling. Hence, we have chosen a theme that we think resonates the broad objectives of the conference: Ecology: Fundamental Science of the Biosphere. In this context, we hope to facilitate greater integration of knowledge across the fields of ecology as they relate to some of the most pressing questions facing the globe.
We look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne in 2012 and promise a challenging and informative ecological conference.
John Morgan, on behalf of the ESA 2012 Local Organising Committee
